Format beats niche
Most advice for new creators is about picking a niche. But a niche is a topic, and a topic will not tell you whether you can sustain what you have started. The format will — the repeatable shape of the video, and what it demands of your week, your budget, your editing and your willingness to be on camera. Someone with four hours a week and no camera confidence will fail at a daily vlog and can succeed at a faceless voiceover series. That is a format problem, not a niche problem.
A niche ignores your week
“Fitness” tells you nothing about whether you can sustain three edits a week. A format has a floor in hours, and below it the format simply does not work.
A format is a set of demands
Time, equipment, editing, consistency — and whether you have to be on camera. Those are checkable against your actual life before you start, not after six months.
You can change niche later
Creators switch topic all the time and survive. Switching format usually means starting the channel again, because the format is what the audience subscribed to.
